How to Set Up a Status Page

What a status page is

A status page is a public, shareable page that shows the live health of the services you monitor for one client — SSL, DNS, uptime, and vendor status — updated automatically. You can share the link with a client (or their customers) so they can self-serve "is it up?" without logging in or emailing you. You typically create one status page per client.

Step 1 — Create the page

Go to Status Pages → New status page. Give it a name (usually the client's name) and, if you want, attach it to a Client so its branding (logo, colour) and assets are linked. A new page starts private — nothing is public until you publish it.

Step 2 — Add components (the services it shows)

Open the page and use the Components card to add the monitored assets you want to display. Each component is one of your assets (a domain/endpoint you already monitor). If the page is attached to a client, use "Add all N of this client's assets" to attach them in one click. A page with zero components looks empty, so add at least one before publishing.

No assets yet? Add one under Assets first, then come back — the Components card links you there.

Step 3 — Publish and share

Flip the page to Public. It is then live at:

https://status.merlonix.com/<your-page-slug>

Copy the link from the Public link card and share it. You can also drop a status badge on the client's own site (the Badge card gives you the snippet), or point a custom domain like status.theirdomain.com at the page (Agency plans and the White-Label add-on — see "Add a Custom Domain to Your Status Page").

What visitors see

  • A green/amber/red status for each component, plus an overall page status.
  • A 90-day uptime history strip per component.
  • A subscribe box so visitors get notified on incidents (see "Status Page Subscriptions & Sharing").
  • Newly-added components read "No data yet" until their first check runs — that happens within the hour and is normal.

Incidents and maintenance

From the page you can post an incident (a short note shown at the top while something is wrong) and schedule a maintenance window (so a planned change doesn't look like an outage). Both are optional and appear on the public page.
