On Agency & Compliance

Know how AI answers describe you.

Buyers increasingly ask an AI assistant “who does X?” before they ever reach a search results page. You need to know whether the assistant cites you at all — and whether it gets your facts right. Merlonix watches that for you, continuously.

How it works

01

Pick the buyer questions that matter

Track the questions a prospect actually asks an assistant before they ever search — “who does X for agencies?”, “best tool for Y”, “is Z any good?”. Agency includes up to 5 tracked queries per client; Compliance includes up to 10.

02

We ask the answer engines, weekly

On a weekly cadence Merlonix puts each tracked question to public AI answer engines — Perplexity and ChatGPT are both live, and each engine runs independently so a degraded one never blocks the rest.

03

We check citation and facts

For every answer we check two things: does the engine cite the brand, and does it represent the facts — pricing, positioning, what you actually do — correctly. Both are recorded per engine over time.

04

You get a drift alert

When a brand that used to be cited drops out, or an engine starts stating something wrong, you get an alert — instead of finding out from a prospect on a sales call.

Engines we check

Two live answer engines, checked independently.

We query each engine on its own and record citation and facts per engine, so a degraded one never blocks the rest and you see how each assistant describes you over time.

What you do with the results

Knowing is step one. Then you improve your odds.

Merlonix doesn’t just report — it points you at the moves that make an engine more likely to cite you and get your facts right. None of these is a guarantee (the engines decide what to cite), but each one improves your odds.

Get into the sources engines cite

Answer engines synthesize from the open web — review sites, “best of” roundups, comparison articles, Reddit threads. Being present and accurate in those sources improves your odds of being cited. We surface which kinds of sources are showing up so you know where to invest.

Publish clear comparison and factual pages

Comparison / “vs” pages and plain, factual pages (what you do, who it’s for, how pricing works) give engines something unambiguous to quote. The clearer your canonical pages, the less room there is for an engine to invent or mangle the facts.

Fix the wrong facts at the source

When an engine states something incorrect, the durable fix is upstream: correct your canonical pages, directory listings, and profiles so the next crawl has the right answer. Merlonix tells you what to fix; the correction lives on the pages engines read.

What we promise — and what we don’t

We report what the engines say. We don’t promise to change it.

Answer-presence monitoring is included on Agency and Compliance (Enterprise inherits everything in Compliance). Agency tracks up to 5 questions per client; Compliance tracks up to 10. Perplexity and ChatGPT are both live and each engine runs independently. We tell you, continuously, whether you are cited and whether the facts are right — and what to change to improve your odds. We do not promise to change what an engine says or guarantee a citation. The free plan and the lower tiers do not include answer-presence monitoring.

Common questions

What is AI answer-presence monitoring?

Merlonix tracks the buyer questions that matter to you, asks public AI answer engines on a weekly cadence, and checks whether they cite the brand and state its pricing and positioning correctly — alerting you when that drifts. Perplexity and ChatGPT are both live; each engine runs independently. It reports what the engines currently say. It does not promise to change what they say or guarantee a citation.

Which AI answer engines do you check?

Two engines are live today: Perplexity (Sonar) and ChatGPT (OpenAI web search). Each engine is queried independently and its results are recorded separately, so a degraded or rate-limited engine never blocks the others, and you can see how each one describes you over time.

Can Merlonix make an engine cite me?

No, and we will not claim it can. The engines decide what to cite; we report what they currently say. What we can do is tell you, continuously, whether you are cited and whether the facts are right — and point you at the kinds of changes (clearer factual pages, presence in the sources engines pull from, corrected listings) that improve your odds. That is influence, not a guarantee.

How many questions can I track?

Answer-presence monitoring is included on Agency and Compliance. Agency tracks up to 5 questions per client; Compliance tracks up to 10. Enterprise inherits everything in Compliance. The lower tiers and the free plan do not include answer-presence monitoring.

How is this different from SEO or rank tracking?

Rank tracking tells you where a blue link sits on a results page. Answer-presence monitoring tells you what an AI assistant says when a buyer asks it directly — whether you are named at all, whether you are cited as a source, and whether the facts it states about you are correct. A growing share of buyers ask the assistant first and never reach a results page.
