Buyers increasingly ask an AI assistant “who does X?” before they ever reach a search results page. Merlonix tracks the questions that matter to you and your clients, asks public AI answer engines on a weekly cadence, and checks two things: does the engine cite the brand, and does it represent the facts — pricing, positioning — correctly. When a brand that used to be cited drops out, or an engine starts stating something wrong, you get an alert instead of finding out from a prospect.

Perplexity and ChatGPT are both live, and each engine runs independently so a degraded one never blocks the rest. We report what the engines currently say — we don’t promise to change it. Agency includes up to 5 tracked queries per client; Compliance includes up to 10.

Is the free plan really free?

Yes — $0, no credit card, and no trial countdown. The free plan monitors up to 3 services with 5-minute SSL, DNS, and upstream-vendor checks, sends email alerts, and gives you one public status page (carrying a "Powered by Merlonix" badge). It's a real monitoring account, not a time-limited trial. Upgrade to a paid tier for more assets, one-minute checks, more seats, and a badge-free status page.

Do I need a credit card to start the trial?

No. You pick a tier and enter your email. We'll ask for payment before the 14-day trial ends; if you don't upgrade, your account becomes read-only and nothing is charged.

What counts as a monitored asset?

One hostname, one domain, or one certificate. A wildcard cert watched across three subdomains is three assets; an apex domain with its www alias is two. The quota is enforced per tenant and you can see the current usage on the dashboard.

Can I move clients between tenants?

Not in the v1 product. Each agency lives in one tenant and all their client assets belong to that tenant. Multi-tenant support is on the roadmap — if it's blocking you, tell us and we'll prioritize it.

How is an alert different from my existing uptime monitor?

Uptime monitors check if a URL returns 200. Merlonix checks if the certificate powering that URL is expiring, if the DNS record points where you expected, and if the upstream vendor the URL depends on is degraded. Those three failures all look like 'up' to an uptime monitor.

What is AI answer-presence monitoring?

On Agency and Compliance, Merlonix tracks the buyer questions that matter to you, asks public AI answer engines on a weekly cadence, and checks whether they cite the brand and state its pricing and positioning correctly — alerting you when that drifts. Perplexity and ChatGPT are both live; each engine runs independently. It reports what the engines currently say. It does not promise to change what they say or guarantee a citation. Every 14-day trial includes a 2-query taste of it, so you can evaluate it before picking a tier.

What happens if I cancel?

Your plan downgrades at the end of the current billing period. Monitoring stops but your historical data (past checks, past alerts, attestations) stays available read-only for 90 days. After 90 days the data is deleted per our retention policy.

Do paid plans come with an SLA?

Not a contractual one yet — we'd rather show you real numbers than sign a promise we haven't earned the history to back. Merlonix monitors its own production surface on a public status page (the same machinery every tenant gets), and our incident history is written up, evidence and all, on the proof page. Check cadence is 1 minute on Team and above, 5 minutes on Starter and Free. If your procurement requires a contractual SLA with service credits, that is an Enterprise conversation — get in touch.

Can I self-host Merlonix?

Not right now. Merlonix uses Cloudflare Workers + Supabase for fan-out monitoring and we have not packaged a self-hosted distribution. If self-hosting is a hard requirement, get in touch — it is an Enterprise-tier conversation.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes. Once you have a paid plan, your dashboard shows a personal referral link. Share it with a peer — when they subscribe to any paid plan, you get 20% off your next payment. It's a one-time discount per referral, applied automatically to your next invoice.

What if I need a few more monitored assets than my tier includes?

Add asset packs instead of jumping a whole tier. Each pack adds 10 monitored assets for $5/month (or $50/year), and you can stack up to 50 packs. Manage them from your billing page — they attach to your existing subscription and prorate like any add-on.
